Valentino was one of the first big matinee idols of the Silent Era. His death in 1926 cemented his image. He might be dead, but he’s young and sexy forever in celluloid. Here we have a book with his personalized bookplate. A perfect souvenir for an adoring fan. But one wonders. People have been known to print up facsimile bookplates of famous people to turn worthless old books into fake new treasures. But this next piece of evidence sells it, as far as I’m concerned.
