These were made in the 1970s as a fiberglass shell that went on a VW Bug chassis. Craziness. Sterling is apparently still around (just barely, having been sold this year to enthusiasts who hope to keep the parts coming to help out current owners). More nice background here.
Obviously this one needs some love, but it looks pretty sweet, especially with that cockpit entry.
