Pickaninnies have thankfully fallen by the wayside in corporate advertising. Collections of these and other caricatures of black Americans show up at estate sales from time to time. I infer most of the collectors were African American themselves, collecting and documenting (rather than celebrating exactly) this chapter of American history.
