Leonard Pennario was an American pianist of note. He also served in WWII, as part of the Army Air Forces delivering supplies to Chang Kai-Shek and US forces in China by flying over ‘The Hump”, i.e. the Himalayas. Pennario became the first pianist after the composer himself to record all four Rachmaninoff piano concertos.
