Gale Sayers passed away late last year. He never played in a Superbowl, but was one of the greatest players of his day and an easy pick for the Hall of Fame. He also wrote the book that became the basis for Brian’s Song, a made-for-TV film guaranteed to reduce 300 pound linebackers to tears.
