Aficionados know that Marblehead, Massachusetts was one of the geographical inspirations for HP Lovecraft’s Kingsport. Seeing Marblehead at sunset in 1922 was “the most powerful single emotional climax during my nearly forty years of existence.” Which may explain his hapless marriage.
