I needed to find the backstory. Lee Marvin was involved in a ‘palimony’ suit, back in the day, with the case in Marvin v Marvin making waves in the 70s. The actor won the case, as the court found no proven agreement between the parties existed, but the court upheld the idea that such agreements, verbal or written, could be the basis of a claim.
