Andy Lococo’s Cockatoo Inn

I remember driving past it (the building itself, not the ashtray), probably shortly before its dilapidated carcass was knocked down 20 years ago. It has quite a story, per Wikipedia:
The hotel was founded in 1958, when a notorious American Mafia member Andrew Lococo built the hotel. Cockatoo Inn quickly became popular in Los Angeles. Guests of the hotel include John F. KennedyRobert F. KennedyMarilyn Monroe, and Mickey Rooney.[2] An acting US Attorney identified Andrew Lococo as a prominent member of the American Mafia, making Lococo subject to federal investigations. Shortly afterward he was convicted of horse race-fixing, gambling violations, and perjury in a grand trial.
